NIBONG TEBAL, June 24 — A fish farm operator was seriously injured when armed assailants attacked him outside a restaurant in Sungai Udang on Wednesday.

The attackers fled when the victim collapsed in a pool of blood.

Members of the public who responded to the 43-year-old victim’s cries for help took him to the Sungai Bakap hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.

Seberang Prai (South) police chief Supt Abdul Shafee Abdul Samad said the victim sustained serious injuries on his hands and legs.

Initial investigations revealed the victim had left his home just after dusk, informing his wife that he was going to meet someone in Sungai Udang, about 20km from their Nibong Tebal home.

When the victim arrived outside the restaurant at about 8pm, a white car pulled up and four men armed with parang alighted.

They confronted the victim and attacked him.

“We have yet to establish the motive for the attack or the identities of the attackers,” Shafee said, adding that the case has been classified under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
