GEORGE TOWN, May 7 — The process of recording Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s statement on the purchase of a bungalow and sale of land in Taman Manggis at the Penang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters is now complete.

His lawyer, R. S. N. Rayer said despite the statement being recorded, he was informed that Lim could be called again if required.

He was speaking to reporters at the compound of the MACC headquarters in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah here today.

Lim turned up at the MACC headquarters at 10.05am for his statement to be recorded.

The process ended at 7.45pm.

The statements recorded were believed to be connected to Lim’s purchase of a bungalow in Jalan Pinhorn and the sale of state government land at Taman Manggis in Jalan Zainal Abidin here.

Yesterday, Lim and wife, Betty Chew turned up at the MACC headquarters for their statements to be recorded.

They were among six individuals who were called to give their statements over investigations into the case of the bungalow purchase and the sale of land in Taman Manggis.

The purchase of the bungalow at a price of RM2.8 million triggered a controversy when Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament Datuk Shabudin Yahaya raised it in the Dewan Rakyat, claiming it was sold at below market price. — Bernama
