KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — If you love crafting, make sure you sign up for Team Etsy Malaysia's sixth Etsy Craft Party, Art of Weaving, happening on June 18, 2016.
There will be three slots to choose from with each session lasting two hours (11am-1pm; 1.30pm-3.30pm; 4pm-6pm). Each session is limited to 16 participants so only a maximum of 48 can take part on the day.
Registration is a just RM15 per person and the craft work is suitable for those aged five and above. Children aged five to eight years have to be accompanied by a parent. This party is open to both members of the team as well as the public.
“Previously, Etsy decides on a theme for all the groups to follow but this year we are at liberty to choose for ourselves,” said Shelby Kho, team leader of Team Etsy Malaysia.

Kho said this year's weaving theme is a homage to Malaysia, “the amalgamation of elements as well as the traditional skill set possessed by humans for centuries.”
This is a party and not a workshop so there is no official instructor but a team of volunteers will be present to facilitate and “guide” everyone.
Kho who is also the founder of Bisou Bon Bon, a local cosmetics brand, has been an Etsy member since 2009 and a seller on Etsy since 2011.
Last year, during an Etsy meet-up with the Etsy administrators from Australia and UK, some team members suggested that Kho took up the post as team leader.
“Every year Etsy teams all over the world host an 'annual celebration of meeting and making.' The Craft Party 'is all about making connections with the community while making something with your hands.' Like all parties, this is first and foremost for everyone to have fun.
“It is also for members to get to know each other and foster friendships. Having said that, this is also to introduce Etsy to the public to show them that a local crafting community exists which will help provide a variety when they intend to shop local or handmade,” said Kho.
