KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — It is never too early to get your Hari Raya outfit and with the proliferation of online stores, looking stylish does not have to cost an arm and a leg.

According to Veen Dee Tan, Head of Marketing for FashionValet, this Raya the look is all about combinations and beadings are not really big this year.

“There are a few similarities among our local designers — Rizalman Ibrahim and Mimpikita both have one to two pieces of Raya resort wear, while Eggie Azman and Fiziwoo opted for more structural fabric. Surprisingly, there are a number of printed cardigans this Raya too. Madeena by Mizz Nina and Mira Filzah for FashionValet both have colourful printed cardigans featured in their Raya collection,” said Tan.

We offer fun, easy-to-match pieces including the jubah, dresses, skirts, kurung modern and peplum tops, not to mention miniature versions of our favourite designs for kids too,” said Nik Amanina Liyana Binti Nik Abd Aziz, Fashion Designer and Stylist for POPLOOK.

For this collection, Amanina was inspired by couture. She tried to re-interpret red carpet and runway looks into ready-to-wear pieces. She also combined art and traditional elements. “It’s all about reinventing classic silhouettes with a more modern approach. I love to keep my designs sleek and graceful. A feminine, graceful woman is who I design for,” she said.

Tan of FashionValet feels that wrap tops are must-have items in a every fashionable Muslimah’s wardrobe. “I am a big fan of wrap tops because they will never go out of style. You can always pair it with long pants for a casual Open House or with ‘kain’ for more formal events,” said Tan.

As for accessories, Tan recommends the chunky drape earrings which were introduced by Dolce & Gabbana during their 2015 fashion show as well as midi rings that can be stacked on fingers.

Tan’s favourite Raya collection from FashionValet is the Innai X FashionValet collection. She is a big fan of batik and every piece from the collection is handcrafted by our local craftsmen. “This year’s Raya is very different from last year’s Raya.

There is less of lace and beadings, but more clean cuts, structural fabric and bold colours,” said Tan.

A number of designers’ Raya collections will soon be featured in FashionValet by this July; Justin Yap, Justin Chew, Dude & the Duchess (directed by Jonathan Liang), Arared, Ana Abu, KUNTUM by Najeeb Azami and Maatin Shakir.

Amanina’s must-have for every stylish Muslimah’s wardrobe would be a long dress with a classic silhouette and minimal embellishment in a solid shade. “You would want to own something that can be easily dressed up or toned down. Just like the essential little black dress, a long dress in Muslimah fashion is timeless and you can put it on year after year without ever being outdated. Trust me!” she said.

According to the fashion designer, the colours for Raya 2015 are earthy tones, from brown and brick shades to softer palettes like cream and off-white.

“From my personal view, headgear is trending, especially the ones with chains. It makes an outfit look instantly more interesting. And now with #ootds posted on Instagram whether you’re a hijabi or not, you can’t deny that headgear is making a comeback. Do expect to see Muslimah ladies in Raya outfits with headgear on this year,” said Amanina.

The price range for kurung sets at FashionValet is from RM130 to RM2,500. At POPLOOK, the Premium Raya collection starts from RM119 to RM199 (inclusive of GST).
