JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 27 — The largest cinema in Malaysia’s southern state Johor was officially launched yesterday by Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC).

At 60,000 sq. ft, GSC Paradigm JB boasts a total of 16 screens with more than 2,000 seats.

One of the screens is GSC’s proprietary premium large screen format, GSC Maxx. With its 21.5 metres width, it is the largest cinema screen in south Peninsular Malaysia and the first to feature an end-to-end audio experience powered by Dolby audio solutions.

“We are proud to launch GSC Paradigm JB, our latest multiplex and the first to offer 4DX – the world’s leading technology in premium cinematic entertainment,” said Ms. Koh Mei Lee, Chief Executive Officer, Golden Screen Cinemas.

As previously reported, GSC Paradigm JB is the first cinema in Malaysia to feature a 4DX theatre, which incorporates the 4D cinematic technology developed by South Korea’s CJ 4DPLEX.

The immersive cinematic experience enhances on-screen visuals of with over 20 special signature effects including vibration and motion-activated seats, as well as environmental effects like wind, fog, rain, lightning, and scents.

Not only that, GSC Paradigm JB also houses halls with D-Box motion seat technology and two Premiere Class halls – each comes with its own standalone washroom and a shared lounge with a reading corner for guests.

GSC Paradigm JB is also home to GSC International Screens, which will have dedicated halls to showcase arthouse and foreign films. Alternative content such as concerts and sporting events will also be screened at the halls.

Understanding that cinema food is part of the movie-going experience, the new cinema features a café that sells handmade gourmet burgers, freshly brewed coffee, and all-natural cold-pressed fruit juices.
