LOS ANGELES, Nov 8 — The second season of the futuristic thriller from Jonathan Nolan and JJ Abrams should premiere in spring 2018, according to the actress who plays Dolores Abernathy. HBO, the network that screens Westworld in the US, is yet to officially confirm the news.

When answering a question from a fan on Twitter, Evan Rachel Wood revealed that season two of Westworld is set to premiere in spring 2018. Although HBO is yet to comment on the news, a spring premiere would see season two land a year-and-a-half after season one.

Broadcast from October to December 2016, this sci-fi series is based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 movie Westworld. The plot follows the original, and is set in a futuristic theme park populated by android hosts, where visitors can live out all kinds of fantasies. However, things start to go wrong when the androids turn against humans.

This sci-fi western proved a hit for HBO, with an average 12 million viewers per episode across all platforms (digital platforms, VOD). In fact, Westworld has become the premium channel’s most-watched new show, even overtaking Game of Thrones.
