SINGAPORE, April 14 – Descendants of the Sun may be ending its run today. But diehard fans of the series (or indeed, the show’s stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo) can continue to look forward to more Descendants moments next week.

That’s when an exclusive three-part special featuring behind-the-scenes footage and highlights from the popular drama will be made available by the broadcaster, KBS, as a thank-you to fans. It’s slated to air on the channel from April 20 to 22.

However, Malaysian fans can also watch it online after it airs on the channel, starting from April 21, on the Viu website.

The first two parts special will focus on some of the most important scenes of the drama while the third part consists of an epilogue showing viewers a glimpse of the future between the onscreen couple, as well as a behind-the-scenes featurette of the drama.

Descendants of The Sun tells the story of an army captain sent on a peacekeeping mission to a fictional war-torn country, Uruk, where he meets and falls in love with a surgeon working with a medical NGO.

The 16-episode show has been hailed for helping to reinvigorate the “Hallyu” craze (or Korean Wave), which started in the early 2000s, thanks to K-pop acts such as Wonder Girls and K-dramas such as Winter Sonata. — TODAY
