KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned lower at mid-morning today on continuous profit-taking in most heavyweight counters.   

At 11.00am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) declined  1.10 points to 1,633.13, from yesterday's close of 1,634.23.

It opened point 0.93 of a point higher at 1,635.16.

Market breadth was negative as losers led gainers 300 to 188, while 311 counters were unchanged, 928 untraded and 19 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 411.93 million shares worth RM221.87 million.              

Among the finance stocks, Maybank slid five sen to RM8.15, Axiata and Genting declined three sen each to RM5.15 and RM8.12 respectively, Petronas Gas and Hong Leong dropped 12 sen each to RM21.62 and RM14.04.

PPB Group was lower 14 sen at RM 16.16.           

Meanwhile, Public Bank increased eight sen to RM19.24, PetChem rose three sen to RM6.43, Astro and Petronas Dagangan bagged four sen each to RM2.87 and RM23.42. But, Maxis and Telekom were flat at RM5.73 and RM6.76 respectively.

Of the actives, LKL International and Green Ocean inched up one sen each to 32.5 sen and 11 sen respectively, Sapura Kencana was up two sen to RM1.40 sen and Hubline was flat at one sen.

The FBM Emas Index gained 40.75 points to 11,398.17, the FBMT 100 Index was up 43.14 points to 11,103.31 and the FBM 70 declined 28.97 points to 12,824.48.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index was 9.48 points lower at 11,396.50 and the FBM Ace gained 16.95 points to 5,256.33.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index narrowed 26.21 points to 14,077.98, the Industrial Index fell 3.70 points to 3,061.95 and Plantation Index weakened 20.74 points to 7,581.50. ― Bernama
