KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar this morning on lack of buying appetite, said a dealer.

At 9.06am, the local unit was quoted at 4.0620/0680 against the US dollar from 4.0450/0500 at 5pm yesterday.

A dealer said the local currency, however, was still steady, backed by positive movements of global crude oil prices.

The local note also traded mixed against a basket of major currencies.

It fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.9987/0035 from yesterday’s close of 2.9934/9987, strengthened against the yen to 3.7902/7973 from 3.7978/8035 and improved against the euro to 4.5901/5981 from 4.5959/6028.

The ringgit, however, depreciated vis-a-vis the British pound to 5.8704/8815 from 5.8523/8612 yesterday. — Bernama
