KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — Bursa Malaysia, which remained mostly positive today, ended higher tracking the bullish performance of regional bourses.

The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) finished 11.63 points higher at 1,660.62 after opening 1.27 points better at 1,650.26.

The index moved between 1,660.62 and 1,648.76 throughout the day.  Gainers led losers 551 to 262 with 336 counters unchanged, 561 untraded and 30 others suspended.

Volume was higher at 1.93 billion shares worth RM2.12 billion, from Monday’s 1.27 billion units worth RM1.34 billion.

On regional bourses, Japan’s Nikkei 225 added 0.58 per cent to 16,675.45, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 1.42 per cent to 21,328.24 and Singapore’s Straits Times gained 0.59 per cent to 2,848.09.

Among heavyweights, Maybank fell three sen to RM8.39, TNB and Public Bank each added two sen to RM14.00 and RM19.12 respectively, while IHH Healthcare increased 10 sen to RM6.50.

Of the actives, China Automobile Parts, Sumatec and Tiger Synergy were flat at five sen, 11 sen and five sen respectively, while AirAsia added five sen to RM2.60.

Of the top gainers, F&N gained 50 sen to RM24.50, Dutch Lady perked 44 sen to RM56.60 while Petronas Gas and BAT each advanced 32 sen to RM21.78 and RM51.80 respectively.

The FBM Emas Index improved 96.84 points to 11,614.97, the FBMT100 Index surged 93.92 points to 11,310.50 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index leaped 138.96 points to 12,156.65.

The FBM 70 jumped 161.59 points to 13,152.18 and the FBM Ace rose 5.08 points to 5,488.43.

The Finance Index was up 31.93 points to 14,377.18, the Plantation Index increased 125.12 points to 7,641.58 and the Industrial Index soared 26.80 points to 3,099.47.  Main Market turnover increased to 1.31 billion shares worth RM2.02 billion from yesterday’s 849.95 million shares valued at RM1.26 billion.

The ACE Market volume rose to 332.73 million shares worth RM66.20 million from 292.69 million shares valued at RM61.66 million.

Warrants increased to 293.97 million shares worth RM37.10 million from 134.86 million shares valued at RM22.72 million previously.

Consumer products accounted for 78.73 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products (351.99 million), construction (49.09 million), trade and services (539.49 million), technology (34.37 million), infrastructure (30.96 million), SPAC (4.34 million), finance (53.12 million), hotels (1.36 million), properties (120.22 million), plantations (47.84 million), mining (0), REITs (6.13 million) and closed/fund (10,000).  — Bernama
