IPOH, Jan 30 ― The Sessions Court here postponed its decision on graphic artist Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin’s charge over a clown sketch of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to February 7.

When the case was brought up today, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) prosecuting officer Nazrul Nizam Zameri informed the court that the presiding judge was unwell.

“I seek a new date for the case and I propose Feb 7,” he said.

The date was agreed by Fahmi's lawyer, Louis Liaw, who appeared on behalf of Syahredzan Johan.

The case was then fixed for decision then.

On June 10, 2016, Fahmi was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act for posting a poster depicting Najib in clown face along with the MCMC logo.

He is accused of posting the image on his Facebook page on February 8, 2016.

Fahmi will be liable for a fine of no more than RM50,000 fine, a maximum one-year jail term, or both upon conviction.
