HULU KELANG, Jan 25 ― Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan downplayed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s claim that Barisan Nasional(BN) was behind the #UndiRosak campaign.
The #UndiRosak movement on social media is a campaign for young voters to spoil their ballot papers.
“A lot of people are disillusioned, those who do not come out to vote are not BN supporters,” he said at an economic discourse with music and creative industry players today.
“We want people to come out and vote, but if they do not vote that is their right.”
“I don’t like it; I want them to vote for BN, but I cannot drag them out of their beds in the morning,” he said.
On Jan 23, Dr Mahathir alleged that BN supporters were behind the campaign and that it was a “reverse psychology” tactic by BN to gain votes in the upcoming GE14.
Separately, when asked about Dr Mahathir’s claim that highly educated youths were forced to be nasi lemak sellers or Uber drivers due to unemployment, Rahman said “I don’t want to reply to a melodramatic 93-year-old.”
On Jan 17, the Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for prime minister said tertiary graduates were resorting to such jobs to earn a living, adding that Malaysia is still not considered a country with high-income jobs.
