KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — MCA today praised the Kajang Sessions Court ruling in punishing Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman for referring to the ethnic Chinese as “intruders” 2014 article.
The party’s religious harmony bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said the ruling showed that such forms of politics would not be tolerated in Malaysia.
“I am glad that our political masters and guardians of justice are seen to be taking stock and putting a stop on these form of politicking that is way beneath our progress towards a mature nation.
“It is a good sign that the wheels of justice are taking its toll. I must laud and applaud the Judiciary and the Attorney General’s Chambers for upholding the laws of the country without fear and favour,” he said in a statement.
Earlier today, Abdullah Zaik was found guilty and convicted under Section 4 (1)(c) of the Sedition Act. He was slapped with a RM2,000 fine.
He allegedly said that the Malaysia’s ethnic Chinese community were “intruders”, and that they were brought into the country by British colonialists to oppress the Malays.
