SHAH ALAM, June 15 — Three Columbians and a Mexican were sentenced to one year in prison each for three counts of house break-ins around Klang Valley since 2008.
Jeovan Andres Zamorano, Raul Ferwei Nino Queian, Ediverto Velderamma and Jesus Evelio Ariza Silva pleaded guilty before Magistrate Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin when the charges were read out to them in Spanish by the interpreter.
The men aged between 27 and 56 broke into homes around Taman TTDI, Shah Alam, Bukit Rahman Putra and Saujana Resort, carting away valuables such as gold rings, necklaces, branded watches, bottles of liquor and computer tablets worth around RM165,000.
They committed the offences between 2008 and March this year.
In mitigation, their lawyer Wan Azmir Wan Majid urged the court to impose the minimum sentence of six months as they had saved time and cost for the court.
By pleading guilty, the four accused who had entered Malaysia as tourists had also eased the burden of the deputy public prosecutor who would not need to call any witnesses for the break-ins that were committed in 2008, said counsel.
The prosecution was represented by Selangor DPP Ng Wee Li. — Bernama
