Police say found five homemade bombs in Damansara Perdana condo

PETALING JAYA, April 17 — Five homemade bombs were found in a condominium in Damansara Perdana this morning following a police raid.

The improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered in a 17th-floor condominium during the raid, where two local suspects, who are believed to be the bomb makers, escaped before the raid.

The 8.30am incident saw police and Fire and Rescue Department personnel called to the scene.

Almost 200 residents were evacuated from their condominiums.

The suspects had rented the unit and a statement was being recorded from the owner.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said a bomb disposal team then extracted the explosives, which were then detonated at a nearby quarry.

He said police also recovered drugs and items believed to be used to make the explosives.

“We found the IEDs were also equipped with remote detonators. The IEDs were made using material like PVC pipes and wires,” he told reporters at the scene.

Residents were allowed to return to their homes after the area was declared safe at about 12.30pm.
