ALOR SETAR, April 9 — The services of a religious school teacher who allegedly used a plastic chair to hit three secondary school pupils last Monday in Baling near here, have been terminated with immediate effect.

Kedah Education Department (JPN) director Datuk Azuyah Hassan said the decision was made after a discussion involving the students’ next-of-kin, school authorities and parent-teacher association.

“Last Wednesday, the three victims received an apology from the teacher and they agreed to submit the case to the school and police for action,” she told a press conference here today.

Azuyah said the pupils who sustained injuries in the incident were taken to a hospital before they returned home.
