KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — The lawmakers who attended this morning protest march against PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli’s detention will be hauled up for police questioning.

According to The Star Online, KL police chief Datuk Amar Singh said the rally participants had violated the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (PAA).

“We will record their statements. Under PAA, they aren’t allowed to organise the demonstration, and yet they went ahead with it.

“They are legislators, and they enact the laws. They should know better that prior to organising any demonstrations, they should give police a 10-day notice,” he reportedly said.

Opposition lawmakers including PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng marched from Parliament to Bukit Aman police headquarters today demanding Rafizi’s release.

Rafizi was arrested at the Parliament gates on Tuesday evening for allegedly breaching the Official Secrets Act (OSA) in making public a document from the Auditor-General’s Report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

He is currently under remand until Friday at the Jinjang police detention centre.
