KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 — A witness told the Traffic Court today that he had taken paint samples from three vehicles involved in an accident which took three lives at the Duke Highway in May for analyses.
A chemist with the Chemistry Department, Mohd Amir Husna Nik Alli@Zulkifli said paint samples were taken from two cars, a yellow and a white Perodua Myvi as well as a black Mitsubishi Pajero for analyses to determine the effects of the first collision which took place among the three vehicles.
“I conducted physical inspection on the three vehicles involved by looking at the crucial damages and their relations to the vehicles. Later I also took samples of paint for analyses,” he said when examined by deputy public prosecutor Nadiah Malek Fauzi.
He was testifying at the trial of two Myvi drivers, Siti Noor Aini Mohd Said, 36, and Mohammad Fizal Reza Jamauddin, 31, who were accused of dangerous driving which caused the deaths of Fairuz Nizam Husain, 35, and his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 27, as well as their six-month-old baby, Nur Firuza Annisa.
Siti Noor Aini and Mohammad Fizal Reza were charged with the offence at Km6 of Duke Highway from Ulu Klang to Jalan Duta at between 12.31am to 12.35am on May 2.
Mohd Amir Husna who was the fifth witness to be called, continued giving his statement at the trial which entered its seventh day today.
The witness explained that he took samples of paint stucked on the three vehicles.
When cross-examined by counsel Omar Bakhi Ahmad who is representing Siti Noor Aini, the witness said he determined the effect of the first collision based on the inspection of the damage and effects of paint transferred on the vehicles involved in the accident.
“Based on the damage and direction of paint transfer, I found and saw the most powerful impact usually indicates the effect of the first collision,” he said.
Mohd Amir Husna said the first collision was the first contact which occurred among the three vehicles involved in the accident.
The witness also said he was assigned to carry out the physical inspection and to determine the effect of the first collision among the three vehicles based on the request of police.
According to him, he received the three vehicles for physical inspection on May 5 2015, three days after the accident.
“(All) The cars were transported simultaneously on May 5 by tow trucks,” he said.
In the trial today, Mohammad Fizal Reza was represented by counsel S.N. Seelan, while C. Leo Camoens is holding a watching brief for the victims’ family.
