KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 5 — There was a drop in the number of evacuees at relief centres in Pahang, Perak and Kelantan this morning while in Johor the number remained the same as yesterday.
In Sabah, the 50 evacuees are preparing to return to their homes as the flood situation has improved.
The total number of flood victims still at relief centres in Pahang, Perak, Kelantan and Johor fell to 41,421 people this morning compared to 43,925 last night.
In Pahang, 29,547 evacuees were recorded in 126 centres in seven affected areas this morning compared to 31,921 last night.
A flood operations room spokesman at the Pahang police headquarters said Pekan has the largest number of victims with 11,153 people followed by Temerloh (10.576), Maran (2,771), Bera (2,352), Jerantut (1,534), Kuantan (1,130) and Lipis (31).
In Perak, the number of evacuees this morning reduced to 5,728 from 5,793 recorded last night.
A Perak National Security Council (MKN) spokesman said the victims were staying at 38 relief centres in five districts of Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Perak Tengah, Manjung and Hilir Perak.
The current number of flood victims in Kuala Kangsar is 96 people, Perak Tengah (4,562), Hulu Perak (617), Hilir Perak (300) and Manjung (153).
The number of flood victims recorded in KELANTAN this morning was 6,126 people compared to 6,141 last night.
A Social Welfare Department (JKM) spokesman said the number of victims recorded in Kuala Krai was 2,627 people, Gua Musang (2,189), Tanah Merah (1,106) and Machang (204).
In Johor, a Johor State Disaster operations room spokesman said there are 20 people still remaining at Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak, Segamat.
In Sabah, the relief centres in Kampung Kebatasan, Pitas will close today as the flood situation has improved.
A Media Centre spokesman said the authorities are currently sending the 50 victims to their respective homes. — Bernama
