LOS ANGELES, March 3 — Mandy Moore and Garnier are on a mission to cut down the amount of beauty packaging that ends up in landfills.

The This Is Us actress and singer-songwriter and the beauty giant have teamed up with the organisations DoSomething and TerraCycle on a campaign to encourage young beauty fans to recycle their bathroom empties.

Dubbed “Rinse, Recycle, Repeat,” the campaign provides information about how to separate personal hygiene products so that they can be properly recycled.

Garnier is offering participants special bathroom recycling bins that they can decorate in their own style, sharing photos of their efforts for the chance to win a US$5,000 (RM19,651) scholarship.

Once the bins have been filled, beauty buffs will be able to print off a free shipping label to send off the empties to be responsibly recycled by TerraCycle.

Taking to Instagram to publicise her role in the campaign, Moore commented: “I’m super passionate about taking care of our planet, so I’m VERY excited to be teaming up with @Garnier, @DoSomething, and @TerraCycle to educate and motivate young people to recycle their beauty and personal care products.

“Nearly HALF of Americans don’t recycle their empty beauty and personal care products, so join me and do your part to prevent those #empties from ending up in landfills by signing up for Rinse, Recycle, Repeat.”

Moore has been working with Garnier since September 2017, when she was unveiled as a Brand Ambassador with a starring role in its ‘Nutrisse’ hair colour campaign.
