NASHVILLE, Oct 11 — Have you ever complained about a car that you’ve had to drive? Well, after watching this video, you probably won’t be complaining much anymore.

The 1951 Hoffman is a German-built car but it seems that the designers and engineers responsible for this ‘horseless carriage’, as it was initially called, broke every rule in the car-making book and came up with this thing that has since become known as the worst car ever made.

Obviously a lot of thought went into conceptualising the car and on the surface, the interior actually seems quite well made. But once the door opens, well, everything goes downhill from there.

Jason Torchinsky of Jalopnik had the opportunity to try out this one-of-a-kind vehicle and has this to say about the six horsepower Hoffman.

“‘Worst car ever built,’ is a phrase that gets flung around with the careless impunity of a toddler with a bag of superballs. Whatever you’ve once called the ‘worst car’ is wrong. A Yugo may as well be a Maybach compared to the Hoffmann, the actual worst car ever built. I know because I drove it.”

Torchinsky had approached the people at Lane Motor Museum to find him their worst cars and after a poll, the vote was unanimous: the 1951 Hoffman.
