LOS ANGELES, Aug 31 ― Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones reunite for the retelling of the story of British scientist James Glaisher. Set to release December 20, Amazon Prime Video's The Aeronauts has released its first trailer.

Four years after starring together in The Theory of Everything, Redmayne and Jones reunite for a new film, based on a true story. In anticipation of its sneak preview at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado on Friday, August 30, the film, helmed by Tom Harper (Wild Rose) has unveiled its high-flying first trailer.

In The Aeronauts, Harper revisits the true story of 19th-century British meteorologist and aeronaut James Glaisher (Redmayne). Along with fellow aeronaut Amelia Wren (Jones), he sets off on a perilous journey to attempt to fly higher than any man before.

The hot-air balloon mission, which allows them to make discoveries in the field of meteorology, also puts their lives in danger. Lost in the sky, James and Amelia must fight the elements to survive.

While James Glaisher did leave his mark on his era by breaking altitude records, Amelia Wren is a fictional character. The film is a retelling of the September 1862 ascension that nearly killed Glaisher and his real-life co-pilot, professional balloonist Henry Coxwell.

Phoebe Fox, Himesh Patel, Vincent Perez, Anne Reid, Tom Courtenay, Tim McInnerny and Rebecca Front also star.

The movie will release in selected US theatres on December 6, ahead of its December 20 release on the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform. ― AFP-Relaxnews
