KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 — The Lee Chong Wei biopic, Lee Chong Wei: Rise of the Legend, is slated to open in various Asian countries other than Malaysia.

Producer Josiah Chieng said during the press conference today at Quill City Mall that apart from Malaysia, the RM6 million budget movie has plans to be released in countries such as Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Other countries like China, Indonesia, and Japan are still in negotiation for the movie’s release.

“We are also invited to premiere our movie in some film festivals across the globe,” he said proudly.

Chieng mentioned that he plans to not only release it in Asian countries but to also try to enter the Western market.

“Lee Chong Wei: Rise of the Legend” is a biopic film about Malaysia’s national badminton hero Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei and his rise to the top as the number one badminton player in the world.

The movie is set to premiere at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium this 9 March 2018, which will be recorded in both the Malaysian Book of Records and the Asian Book of Records for the most attendees in a movie premiere totaling up to 20,000 people.
