LOS ANGELES, March 17 — “Ugly Betty” actress America Ferrera has reportedly signed on to star in and produce in a new NBC series, marking her comeback to television.

Ferrera, who rose to fame playing the main character in the ABC series “Ugly Betty,” has declined regular TV roles since the show wrapped in 2010, but has said yes to NBC comedy pilot “Superstore,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Superstore” has been described as a comedy set at a megastore in middle America and revolves around the misfit group of employees working there and the relationships which unfold among them.

Ferrera is tipped to play the character of Amy, a veteran store employee who slowly falls for newbie Jonah as the two work together.

The “Superstore” script will be penned by Justin Spitzer of “The Office,”, who will also act as executive producer for the show, alongside Ruben Fleischer, who will direct the Universal Television pilot. — AFP-Relaxnews
