LOS ANGELES, June 6 — Oscar nominated actress Naomi Watts has joined the cast of the “Divergent” franchise, based on the series of sci-fi novels. The British beauty will play Evelyn, the mother of the character Four, portrayed by 20-year-old heartthrob Theo James.

Watts was last seen in 2013’s “Diana”, a critical and commercial failure, but she is no stranger to special effects flicks, most recently with “The Impossible”.

“Divergent” was a huge hit, and Naomi joins returning stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Jai Courtney, as well as Academy Award winner Kate Winslet. Other new cast members added for the sequels include Octavia Spencer, and model-turned-actress Suki Waterhouse, perhaps better known as Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend.

The next film in the blockbusting young adult series will be titled “Insurgent”. It’s currently filming in Atlanta, and will hit theatres in March of 2015. The third and final book in the trilogy, “Allegiant”, will be split into two movies scheduled to be released over the next two years. — Cover Media
