PETALING JAYA, Aug 4 ― Former Umno members who seek revenge will never succeed because “Allah won’t support” their bid, the Malay nationalist party’s permanent chairman Tan Sri Badruddin Amiruldin said today.
Responding to news that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would head a new political party, Badruddin said the former Umno deputy president was free to do so, but was sceptical it would gain support.
“History has shown that no one who left Umno to set up a new party are successful.
“Besides, he is starting this party to take revenge against Umno... Allah won’t support this,” he told reporters when met at the Tabung Haji complex.
Muhyiddin will be the president of the new political party and backed by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
It was reported that he will be officially registering the party with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) tomorrow.
Former Wanita Umno leader Anina Saadudin told Malay Mail Online that the pro tem members are Muhyiddin, Dr Mahathir, his son and former Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, herself, Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia president Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman and student group Challenger leader Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi.
Muhyiddin also confirmed this in a Facebook posting this morning, and that a meeting on the matter was held last night.
“I will be submitting an application to the Registrar of Societies and register this new political party in the near future.
“Let’s us all pray that the application is approved. Insyaallah we will do the best for the rakyat and the country,” Muhyiddin said.
