KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 — A petty trader sustained injury when two parang-wielding men attempted to rob her in front of a food court in Jalan Indah 3/8 Bukit Puchong, early this morning.
In the 1.10am incident, the 49-year-old victim was injured on her left arm, wrist and left cheek after she put up a fight with the two suspects.
Subang Jaya police chief ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari said the victim was approached by the men on the pretext of wanting to buy cigarette at her stall.
One of the suspects grabbed her neck from behind and told her to shut up before he snapped her necklace, he said.
“After that, there was a scuffle between the victim and another suspect when the woman tried to stop the suspect from taking her handbag hanging at her stall.
“The victim later pulled her handbag and shouted for help, causing the suspect to release it and flee the scene on a motorcycle,” he said in a statement here today.
However, members of the public managed to apprehend one of the suspects while his accomplice was still at large, he said.
He said both the victim and the 26-year-old suspect were now being treated at Serdang Hospital. — Bernama
