PETALING JAYA, Aug 13 — In a surprise visit, a group of policemen turned up outside the home of Syefura Othman in Puncak Alam late last night, seeking the young DAP member for an unspecified Sedition Act investigation.

Syefura, popularly known by her nickname Rara, told Malay Mail Online she was notified of the police visit by her younger brother as she was not home at that time.

“I was not home at the time. The police came and spoke to my brother. They did not say for what I was being investigated for, but said it was an offence related to the Sedition Act,” she said when contacted.

The police were from the Saujana police station and claimed they were under orders from Kuala Lumpur’s Dang Wangi district police headquarters to pick her up for investigation, Syefura recounted.

Syefura had attended a DAP fundraising dinner here earlier last night and delivered a rousing speech.

The DAP youth is believed to be under investigation for her alleged participation in the #TangkapNajib rally held a fortnight ago.

In a separate incident last night, the police also arrested two volunteers who were hanging up a Bersih banner here promoting the electoral watchdog’s much-vaunted August 29 rally in the federal capital.
