The Kinabatangan MP claimed that the Islamist party had brought the disaster down on the northern state by organising a mass prayer for Umno’s destruction.
“Where in Islam does one pray for Umno’s fall?” Bung Moktar said in Parliament when debating the Royal Address.
"After the prayer session, the stadium was the one that was hit. It was never flooded in hundreds of years but after the prayer, Allah returned their prayer back at them (PAS),” he added, referring to the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium where the mass prayer was held.
Three years ago, the late Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat — who was Kelantan mentri besar at that time — had reportedly led a short prayer for the destruction of Umno for alleged cruelties that included denying Kelantan oil royalties.
Bung Moktar today claimed that the recent floods, which claimed at least 10 lives in Kelantan, was a “test from Allah”.
“Every year there is flood in Kelantan but not (this) extraordinary but I see (it) as a test from Allah.
“When the leadership is not grateful, there will be bah besar (big flood),” he said earlier, in reference to the Kelantan state government.
Bung said that while the Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government is always accused of being cruel and robbing people of their wealth, it was the very same administration that came to the rescue of flood victims.
“When the flood came, the Kelantan menteri besar (Datuk Ahmad Yakob) said he cannot do anything because he cannot afford it.
“If it weren’t for us (BN), the people of Kelantan will suffer,” Bung added.
The floods that struck the east coast of peninsular Malaysia late last year were the worst in the country in decades, displacing hundreds of thousands from their homes.
