Duo charged for possession of homemade gun

SIBU, Feb 12 — Two men have been charged in the Sessions Court here today for illegal possession of a homemade shotgun.

Ngu Teck Hing, 23, and Banta Wong, 19, pleaded not guilty to the charge read in Fuzhou dialect and Mandarin before Judge Caroline Bee Majanil.

The duo were alleged to have been in possession of the shotgun at a house in Jalan Engkala here between January 30 at 4.45pm, and February 3.

They were charged under Section 8 of the Firearms Act (Heavier Penalty) 1971, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code which is punishable under the same act, for a term of up to 14 years in prison and six lashes, upon conviction.

The court fixed February 25 for re-mention of the case.

Both accused were not granted bail. — Bernama
