KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 — The number of flood victims at flood relief centres in Sabah increased this morning to 1,233 people compared with 1,214 last night.

The situation in Sarawak however, improved with the number of flood victims at flood relief centres dropping from 1,752 last night to 1,684 this morning, while in Kelantan, it remained at 255.    

In SABAH, a spokesman of the Beaufort Flood Operations Room said the number of flood victims at two relief centres in the district remained at 195 from 42 families.     

In Membakut, two relief centres — Dewan Baru Membakut and SMK Beaufort Dua — recorded an increase from 1,019 to 1038 from last night.

In SARAWAK, a spokesman from the state National Security Council said there were still nine flood relief centres in operation with the Samarahan Division having the highest number of victims at 788, Limbang (570), Miri (249) and Mukah (77).      

In KELANTAN, all 255 flood victims from 62 families were still staying at eight centres in Kuala Krai.

A spokesman for the Kelantan National Security Council (MKN) said as of 8am today all the victims were still staying at schools, factories and mosques since their homes were swept away in the floods last month. — Bernama
