KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 — Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) urged the Malays today to safeguard their constitutional rights and the sovereignty of the Malay rulers, claiming they have come under the threat of agents out to spread the “Jewish capitalist agenda”.

Among others, Isma listed human rights movements like Lawyers for Liberty, Comango, Sisters in Islam, Seksualiti Merdeka, the Malaysian Bar and even news portal Malaysiakini as “Jewish capitalist” agents allegedly bent on turning Malaysia into a faithless nation.

The other groups named are the Islamic Renaissance Front, Liberal Banter, Merdeka Centre, Suaram, Pusat Komas, Mafrel, Institut Kajian Dasar, Pusat Komuniti Kesedaran Selangor and Tenaganita.

In a statement on the group’s website, Isma central working committee member Mohd Hazizi Abd Rahman said to protect Islam, Malay rights and the royal institution must be defended against these groups.

“The special position of Malays, which is enshrined by the Constitution, is an advantage for Islam, to help Muslims who are 95 per cent of them Malays, to compete with others who have been in control of the country’s economy,” he said.

“The royal institution is a mechanism to protect Islamic affairs from intervention by non-Muslims.”

Hazizi admitted, however, that there is malpractice and a lack of transparency in the implementation of pro-Malay policies, and conceded that the Malay rulers are just humans who are prone to errors and mistakes.

Despite that, he insisted that both should stay, even as they continue to face a social movement that he claimed is trying to transform Malaysia into a “faithless country”.

These “Jewish capitalists” groups, he claimed, are funded by foreign bodies linked to the Jewish cause.

Mohd Hazizi did not, however, provide any proof to back his claims.

“Their goal is to make Malaysia a faithless civil country, using the slogans of freedom, human rights, justice, equality, brotherhood, democracy and others, which sound noble,” said Hazizi.

“Actually, they are just tools for the Jewish capitalist agenda to destroy the fort of religion and the nation, to ease the way towards our country being controlled by the Jewish capitalists.”

Hazizi also cited a verse from the Quran, urging believers to side with each other against these supposed infidels, instead of associating with them, or risk being invaded and evicted from their own land.

Isma has stepped up its attack against what it called “liberalism” movement, especially after the formation of the Negara-Ku coalition, which is chaired by a leader from Muslim group Ikram.

On Thursday, it said Malaysians must stop the country from becoming a “liberal democratic” nation, alleging that it is a plot by the so-called global Zionist movement.

Yesterday, Putrajaya declared Negara-Ku an illegal society.
