KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 — Online media reported today that two men currently on death row for drug trafficking may be spared the death penalty after they were deemed to have substantively helped the Central Narcotics Bureau in disrupting drug trafficking activities within and outside Singapore.

The report stated that the  decision on the fate of Singaporean Subashkaran Pragasam and Malaysian Yong Vui Kong now lies with the High Court after the Attorney-General's Chambers informed their counsel that the Public Prosecutor will certify this to the High Court today.

The AGC said if Subashkaran and Yong can prove to the court that they were traffickers who only played the role of couriers, under the revised Misuse of Drugs Act, the prosecution will leave the sentence to the discretion of the court.
