TOKYO, Sept 16 — The Japanese manufacturer announced it will unveil its new compact crossover concept, dubbed the C-HR, to the Paris Motor Show in October.

Toyota stated that the new model will have a hybrid drivetrain and will go on display at its stand in Hall 4 of the Porte de Versailles expo centre.

The announcement comes on the heels of one from rival car maker Honda, who teased the Paris unveiling of its near-production HR-V concept, described as something of a cross between a coupe and an SUV. A production model based on Honda's concept is expected to arrive at European dealerships in 2015 in both hybrid and fuel versions. With a lower price tag than the CR-V, the new model is positioned as the European version of the Vezel, which was launched in Japan in 2013.

Also in Paris, Toyota will stage the European premiere of its first hydrogen-powered fuel cell battery sedan. The model is slated to go on sale in 2015.
