NEW YORK, Aug 11 — It’s perhaps one of the most important phrases to learn before embarking on a journey abroad, after “hello,” “goodbye” and “thank you”: “Beer please.”
Enter Pivo (which means beer in Czech), a recently launched app that offers translations and phonetic pronunciations on how to order a brewsky in 59 different languages in order to rescue sad, desperate, and thirsty travelers from languishing pitifully at the foreign watering hole.
Other features include videos that teach users how to order a beer in the language of their choice which can also be viewed offline.
It’s a concept that was borne out of frustration and desperation when the developers landed in Prague and couldn’t figure out how to order a beer. To prevent others from meeting a similarly sad fate, they created Pivo.
Other travel-related beer apps are geolocation-based craft brewery and pub finders, such as TapHunter for watering holes in the US and Findmytap in the UK and Australia, which also helps beer lovers find specific beers at specific bars.
