KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Hong Kong celebrity Cecilia Cheung created a record of sorts when she brought in over 100 million yuan (RM65.5 million) revenue in her first livestream sale for the year.

The livestream on Douyin saw 60 million people watching Cheung sell a variety of goods that include dim sum, soup, luosifen (rice noodles), sunglasses and massage chairs, hk01 reported.

According to the portal, this was the 42-year-old's first public appearance after a six month hiatus.

The mother of three sons was previously married to HK singer and actor Nicholas Tse. Cheung was last seen in the second season of Chinese reality show Sisters Who Make Waves that saw her popularity skyrocketing.

The portal added that in order to better promote the products, Cheung took it upon herself to try out the food that was sold in the livestream.

She also took the trouble to find out the products' ingredients before going live.

It was previously reported that in her first appearance for a livestream sale on the Chinese version of TikTok last year, Cheung brought down its server with 27.6 million viewers.
