LONDON, July 5 — For many, summer means music festival season.

We take a look at some of Europe’s top destinations for pop music fans in from July through September 2017.

Whether you prefer parties on the beach, woodland raves or barefoot dancing on the grass, this summer Europe is offering some of the best pop festivals in the world.

June might have kicked off the season with Glastonbury, Primavera Sound and Isle of Wight but the upcoming months are rich in musical merriment.

We’ve compiled a selection of five based on reviews from The Telegraph, NME, European Best Destinations and AllExciting. From Spain to Latvia via Belgium, where will your passport take you this summer?

Bilbao BBK Live festival, Bilbao, Spain

Bilbao BBK Live, July 6 – July 8, 2017.

On the slopes of Mount Cobetas, Bilbao BBK Live might not be as famous internationally as some of the other European music festivals, but it attracts around 150,000 attendees. This year, highlights include Depeche Mode, The Killers, Die Antwoord, the 1975, Primal Scream and Justice. http://bilbaobbklive.com

Positivus Festival, Salacgriva, Latvia

Positivus Festival, 14-16 July 2017.

Now in its 11th year, Positivus is the largest pop and rock festival in the Baltics (30,000 visitors in 2015), attracting international as well as local stars. For 2017, Ellie Goulding, the Pixies, Alt-J and Maxïmo Park are among the musicians taking to the stage. www.positivusfestival.com

Flow Festival, Helsinki, Finland

Flow Festival, August 11-13, 2017.

Visitors (60,000+) flock to Flow almost as much for its diverse urban arts and VR program as its eclectic music lineup, which this year boasts Lana Del Ray, Aphex Twin, London Grammar and Beth Ditto. www.flowfestival.com

Sziget Festival, Óbudai-sziget, Budapest, Hungary

Sziget Festival, Aug 9 – Aug 16, 2017.

Held on an island in the middle of the Danube, Sziget is one of Europe’s biggest music festivals, attracting almost half a million visitors in 2016. The line-up for Sziget 2017 includes Wiz Khalifa, Kasabian, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pink and Major Lazer. http://en.szigetfestival.com/

Bestival, Dorset, United Kingdom

Bestival, September 7 – 10, 2017.

For the first time, Bestival is moving from the Isle of Wight over to mainland England in Dorset. The quality of music, however, has not changed. 2017’s lineup features the Pet Shop Boys, Justice, Dizzee Rascal, Jamie T, Annie Mac and Roots Manuva. Aside from the music, Bestival has lined up several World’s Biggests: World’s Biggest confetti canon, World’s Largest disco ball and the World’s Biggest bouncy castle.
