BEIJING, April 12 — Game-changing Taiwan drama Meteor Garden is getting a reboot.
The news was confirmed by its creator Angie Chai, exactly 16 years after it debuted on Taiwanese television.
One of the show’s stars Barbie Hsu almost let the cat out of the bag in a Weibo post.
According to a report in Singapore’s Straits Times, the actress hinted that Chai had let her in on a secret when they met up recently.
“She knows I’m honest, but still told me a secret,” Hsu wrote. “I’ll wait for her to tell you herself.”
Chai swiftly followed with her big reveal: “On April 12, 2001, 16 years ago, Meteor Garden premiered and it was the beginning of a beautiful dream. “Yes! Meteor Garden is being remade! An all-new Meteor Garden belonging to your youth!”
Meteor Garden, which is inspired by Japanese manga Boys Over Flowers, propelled boy band F4 to fame.
The show’s popularity also saw it being adapted for TV in Japan, South Korea and China.
Now, the real question is: Who will be the new Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu and Vanness Wu?
