LOS ANGELES, June 13 — Warcraft has stormed straight to the top of the global box office on its opening weekend reports ComScore.
The CGI-heavy movie, directed by Duncan Jones of Moon, took US$210.156 million (RM860.5 million) over the weekend.
Based on the video game franchise the movie stars Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol), Dominic Cooper (The History Boys), Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma), and Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).
Horror movie The Conjuring 2 also had a successful opening weekend, heading straight in to number two, with Now You See Me 2, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson, holding the number three spot.
X-Men: Apocalypse is still clinging onto a place at the top of the charts at number four, ahead of disappointing sequels Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows and Alice Through The Looking Glass.
