MUAR, Oct 25 — Guests began queuing outside the Yong Sheng Banquet Hall as early as 10am, more than three hours before doors opened at 1.30pm for Malaysian singer, actress and model Bella Astillah and her husband Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s Kenduri Rakyat.

Videos and photos on social media platform Threads showed a long line of guests outside the hall, eager to join the wedding celebration of the Sabah celebrity and the Muar MP.

“At 10am, the queue is already long and by 2pm maybe the queue would’ve reached town already. With this heat, maybe I should just forget about going to BASS’s feast in Muar,” Threads user Missasema posted alongside a video of the crowd.

Unlike the couple’s glamorous reception last weekend and their solemnisation in Kuala Lumpur the week before, the Kenduri Rakyat is a celebration with Muar constituents, Syed Saddiq said previously.

Food and drinks will be served to everyone, and the couple has also prepared doorgifts of daily essentials.

At least 15 local food and beverage vendors will be on site, offering coffee, pizza, fried chicken, ayam gepuk and ice cream.

There will be two sessions today, from 2.30pm to 4pm and from 4pm to 5pm.

A “Rakyat’s Appreciation” session follows from 5pm to 6pm, where the couple and their team are expected to hand out daily essentials to guests.

Their social media posts showed that the newlyweds arrived in Muar a few days ago, and that both personally helped to package the doorgifts.

Unlike their previous ceremonies, the Kenduri Rakyat will not be broadcast on any Astro channel, but will be live-streamed on Astro’s social media platforms such as Gempak.

The couple, better known to fans as BASS, tied the knot on October 10 at Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur in an all-white ceremony attended by close family, friends and prominent political figures.

They held another reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre, also in Kuala Lumpur on October 18.

The celebrations will continue with another Kenduri Rakyat in Bella’s home state of Sabah, set for October 31 in Kota Kinabalu.
