LOS ANGELES, July 16 — The second movie directed by Angelina Jolie is due out on December 25, 2014.
After "In the Land of Blood and Honey" (2011), Angelina Jolie is going back behind the cameras for her new project, "Unbroken," due on December 25, 2014, reports Deadline.com.
Based on the bestselling book by Lauren Hillenbrand (writer of "Seabiscuit: An American Legend"), "Unbroken" tells the story of Louis Zamperini, lieutenant in the US Air Force.
This war hero enlisted during the Second World War after having participated in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. In 1943, his bomber crashed in the Pacific Ocean, leaving only three survivors. Their raft drifted for 47 days before making its way to a Japanese island, where the three were captured and made prisoners of war.
Still alive today at the age of 96, Zamperini was held in captivity for two years and tortured by the guards.
Deadline.com reported the words of Angelina Jolie: "I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with Louis Zamperini, who will be played by Jack O'Connell. He is one of my heroes and, I am proud to say, one of my friends."
Rewritten by the Coen brothers, the scenario is based on an outline by William Nicholson ("Les Miserables").
