KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 — Bursa Malaysia remained flat at mid-afternoon amid a mixed regional performance.

At 3pm, the benchmark index shaved half a point to 1,512.25 from yesterday’s close of 1,512.75. The barometer index opened 0.15 of a point easier at 1,512.60.

On the broader market, decliners beat gainers 610 to 333 while 407 counters were unchanged, 912 untraded and 52 others suspended. Turnover stood at 2.33 billion units worth RM1.28 billion.

Among the heavyweight stocks, CIMB Group added one sen to RM6.23, Tenaga Nasional gained 12 sen to RM10.60 while Maybank was flat at RM9.24. Public Bank declined one sen to RM4.39 and Petronas Chemical slid six sen to RM6.77.

As for the actives, TWL Holdings edged up half-a-sen to 4.5 sen, MRCB added two sen to 65.5 sen while Reneuco declined seven sen to 8.5 sen. Both Sapura Energy and Widad Group ticked down half-a-sen to 4.5 sen and 14 sen, respectively.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 18.06 points lower at 11,238.78, the FBMT 100 Index dropped 18.10 points to 10,898.76 and the FBM 70 Index decreased 85.0 points to 15,179.54.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index slipped 9.56 points to 11,271.29 and the FBM ACE Index went down 24.87 points to 4,760.43.

Sector-wise, the Property Index shed 4.65 points to 921.42, the Financial Services Index slid 26.11 points to 16,924.56 and the Industrial Products and Services Index eased by 0.88 points to 173.14.

The Plantation Index added 11.26 points to 7,219.63 and the Energy Index firmed up 12.31 points to 891.49. — Bernama
