KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 — Cooperative bank Koperasi Co-opbank Pertama Malaysia Bhd (CBP) has re-opened its membership shares for public subscription starting Jan 1, 2023.

In a statement today, chief executive officer Khairil Anuar Mohammad Anuar said the move would help expand its membership base and share capital to the targeted levels.

He said the subscription is open to new and existing members, subject to a maximum balance of up to RM5 million for individuals and up to 20 per cent of the current balance of CBP's share capital for the cooperative movement.

Khairil Anuar said the offer will also encourage the public to open and put money into CBP deposit accounts, and in turn increase its deposit balance.

"CBP has performed well recently and offered a competitive dividend rate comparable to other banking institutions.

"For the record, CBP registered an RM86 million profit for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2021, with a dividend distribution of 6.1 per cent," he said.

With its shares being offered again for subscription, the bank expressed hope that the public would take the opportunity to become its members and enjoy good dividends.
