KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 — Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will offer an estimated 45-50 per cent of the contracts in the 37-kilometre Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) project between Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya and Johan Setia, Klang, to Bumiputera companies.

In a statement today, Prasarana said the move will be via a collaborative effort with the Government’s Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju), Contractor and Entrepreneur Division of the Ministry of Works and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).

Chief Executive Officer of Prasarana Rail and Infrastructure Projects Sdn Bhd, Khairani Mohamed, said through the programme, Bumiputera companies will benefit from this opportunity to work alongside established multinational companies in the industry.

Prasarana said the collaboration will provide opportunities for Grade 2 to Grade 4 Bumiputera contractors under the CIDB to grow and develop capacity as well as capability via participation in large-scale infrastructure projects.
