KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained in positive territory at mid-morning today on continued buying momentum in heavyweights, dealers said.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 6.61 points to 1,627.82, from yesterday’s close of 1,621.21.
The barometer index opened 1.73 points easier at 1,619.48.
Gainers led losers 328 to 263, while 309 counters were unchanged, 811 untraded and 13 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 707.55 million shares worth RM436.04 million.
Among heavyweights, Maybank rose six sen to RM8.51, Public Bank gained 12 sen to RM19.12, IHH inched up one sen to RM6.58, while TNB was flat at RM14.
Of the actives, AirAsia X edged up half-a-sen to 40 sen, Compugates was flat at five sen, but Sanichi fell half-a-sen to 19.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index rose 36.04 points to 11,386.16, the FBMT100 Index bagged 34.92 points to 11,075.09 and the FBM 70 inched up 4.7 points to 12,835.73.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index improved 29.65 points for 11,878.66 and the FBM Ace increased 24.50 points to 5,723.94.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index appreciated 59.34 points for 14,283.78, the Industrial Index was 27.37 points higher at 3,041.71, and the Plantation Index added 2.69 points to 7,440.30. — Bernama
