KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — Short-term interbank rates are expected to remain stable today with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) intervening to absorb excess liquidity from the financial system.

The central bank estimated today’s liquidity at RM31.48 billion in the conventional system and RM12.09 billion in Islamic funds.  The central bank will conduct three conventional money market tenders of RM2 billion each and RM1 billion for seven days, 14 days and to 31 days, respectively, as well as three repo tenders of RM500 million each and RM750 million for 14 days, 21 days and 31 days.  

It will also conduct a RM4.7 billion Al-Wadiah tender for seven days to 14 days and a RM400 million Commodity Murabahah Programme for 14 days.  At 4 pm, Bank Negara will conduct up to RM24.8 billion in conventional overnight tender and a RM7.0 billion Al-Wadiah overnight tender. — Bernama
