KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia continued to trade higher at mid-morning today lifted by gains in benchmark index-linked counters and rotational buying interest on penny stocks, dealers said.
At 11.03am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) bagged 8.49 points for 1,870.31, after opening 0.2 of a point higher at 1,862.02.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 51.648 points to 17,429.78, the Plantation Index jumped 74.78 points to 8,574.25, and the Industrial Index edged upward 21.65 points to 3,259.21.
The FBM Emas Index increased 40.33 points to 13,052.03 and the FBMT100 Index improved 40.72 points to 12,623.05.
The FBM 70 lost 17.75 points to 14,264.02 and the FBM Ace lost 2.73 points to 7,002.82.
Gainers led losers 321 to 308 with 322 counters unchanged, 686 counters untraded and 30 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 933.71 million shares worth RM635.32 million.
Among actives, Sumatec, Takaso and Asia Bioenergy earned half a sen each to 51 sen, 41.5 sen and 11.5 sen respectively.
Eti Tech eased half a sen to nine sen and Sanichi dropped one sen to 10 sen.
For the heavyweights, Maybank added four sen to RM10.08, TNB earned two sen to RM12.44, CIMB gained three sen to RM7.21 and Axiata climbed one sen to RM6.96.
