KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-day today, weighed down by selected heavyweights.
At lunch break, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 3.7 points lower at 1,874.64, after reaching an intra-day high of 1,882.07 in the morning session.
Market breadth was negative as losers outpaced gainers 418 to 318 with 332 counters unchanged and 39 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.41 billion shares worth RM980.21 million.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index declined 29.12 points to 17,342.32, the Plantation Index dipped 69.98 points to 8,991.65, and the Industrial Index fell 4.77 points to 3,254.5.
The FBM Emas Index eased 22.46 points for 13,103.38, the FBMT100 Index decreased 26.91 points to 12,664.89, the FBM Ace was 2.28 points lower at 7,083.05 and the FBM 70 slipped 37.93 points to 14,359.76.
Among actives, Sumatec added 3.5 sen to 44 sen, Talam Transform edged up half a sen to 13 sen, Karambunai was flat at 9.5 sen and IFCA MSC shed half a sen to 27.5 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Public Bank and CIMB were flat at RM19.80 and RM6.98, respectively.
TNB fell two sen to RM12.44, while Maybank and Sime Darby eased one sen each to RM9.89 and RM9.63. — Bernama
