KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 — Community airline, Firefly, is on track to achieve its targetted revenue of RM350 million this year judging from the response received to its ongoing sales campaign and the 15-20 per cent increase in passenger seat load achieved since the campaign began on May 12.
“Our latest ‘Everyday Low Fares’ (ELF) sales campaign which offered 500,000 seats for the travel period from July 5, 2013 to July 31, 2014 received overwhelming response.
“Firefly ELF offers, all in one-way, flights at four different starting from RM49 within Peninsular Malaysia, RM99 to Singapore and Indonesia (Batam, Pekan Baru, Medan and Acheh) and for holidays to Phuket and Koh Samui RM149 all in one way from Penang and RM249 from Subang,” Chief Commercial Officer Azman Ahmad told Bernama at Firefly’s sixth anniversary celebration.
Sixty lucky passengers walked away with specially engraved Apple iPad mini each when they purchased tickets, inclusive of travel insurance, from May 13 to June 13.
Azman said the main objective of the promotion was not just to offer affordable pricing on Firefly flights but also to create awareness in adopting travel insurance for peace of mind whenever a person travelled.
One lucky winner, Rahayu Abdul Rahman, said she was happy to fly onboard Firefly not only because of its pricing but also the convenience of taking the flight from a city airport (Subang).
“Plus, passengers don’t have to walk very far from the departure gate to the plane for take off, it’s so near actually,” she added.
In conjunction with the anniversary celebration, Firefly also launched its new partnership with Malaysia Airlines’ frequent flyer programme called ‘Enrich’, where members earn and redeem Enrich miles, and those flying from June 1 to July 31, will earn twice the Enrich miles.
