JOHOR BARU, Jan 4 — Police believe they have crippled a drug dealer network following the arrest of three men and seizure of more than RM80,500 worth of illicit narcotics after several raids in the Kempas area here yesterday.
Johor Baru North acting police chief Superintendent Fariz Ammar Abdullah said all three male suspects, aged between 32 and 43, tested positive for methamphetamines.
“During the raids at a residential area in Kempas, police seized 2.216kg of a powdery substance believed to be heroin and also 133.75g of syabu (crystal methamphetamine).
“The raiding team also seized a Volkswagen Polo car, Yamaha Y16 and Yamaha Ego LC motorcycles and also RM500 in cash.
“The illicit narcotics are believed to be worth RM80,787, while the vehicles and cash are valued at RM46,300,” said Fariz Ammar in a statement issued here today.
Fariz Ammar said investigators secured a remand order for the suspects at the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court for seven days until January 10.
He said investigations will be carried out under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 that provides the death penalty upon conviction or life imprisonment with not fewer than 15 lashes of the cane.
“Johor Baru North police urge the public to inform them if they come across any illicit drug activities,” he said.
